The number of unemployed people in Guernsey has fallen for the second month in a row.

Five fewer people registered as being unemployed in May, taking the island's total to 240, official statistics show.

The registered number of unemployed had dropped by 24 in April, the first fall since January.

Of the total figure, 39 people are aged between 20 to 29 - the age group with the highest level of unemployment, and six people were aged 30 to 39.

More than 20 of the people registered were placed on the Community and Environment Projects Scheme.
