Thousands of passengers were temporarily stranded as security officials struggled to find a passenger who somehow had missed going through the inspection process

According to airport spokesperson Ralph Eastman, at around 11:30am a passenger who had been previously screened went out of the security area, and when he returned he bypassed thescreening inspectors.

A male passenger with a bottle of liquid was advised he could not take it with him on an international flight and he then returned to the waiting area to give it to a family member. When he returned, he bypassed the screeners and that set off an alarm.

No international flights were permitted to take off until he was accounted for, a spokesperson for the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority had reported.

The man was found at approximately 3:30pm Pacific Time.
