Shifting Sands: Bush Warns Of New Holocaust
Freedom and Joint Taskforce Katrina. His commentary is based on actual
experience.
In a speech to the American Legion Tuesday President George W. Bush warned that allowing Iran to acquire nuclear weapons would risk a second holocaust. "Allowing Iran to acquire nuclear weapons risks putting the entire Middle East under the shadow of nuclear holocaust" Mr. Bush stated. Iran denys pursuing nuclear arms but has failed to allow IAEA inspectors full access to it's nuclear facilities. Iranian President Mohmoud Ahmadinejad has repeatedly made inflammatory, anti-Israeli statements including one last year where he seemed to imply that Iran would "Wipe Israel off the map" though he did not elaborate on how. Israeli defense officials have made statements indicating that Iran would not be allowed to gain access to nuclear weapons. Frances President Nicholas Sarkozy, in a speech yesterday, implored western leaders to step up diplomatic efforts to deny Iran nuclear capabilities or face "An Iranian bomb, or the bombing of Iran."
RENO (Thomson Financial) - US President George W Bush warned today that letting Iran acquire atomic weapons risked putting the Middle East 'under the shadow of a nuclear holocaust.''Iran's active pursuit of technology that could lead to nuclear weapons threatens to put a region already known for instability and violence under the shadow of a nuclear holocaust,' he told a veterans group here.
Bush's speech to the American Legion aimed to convince a war-weary US public that the war in Iraq was the central front in the fight against what he described as the Sunni Muslim extremism of the Al-Qaeda terrorist network and the Shiite extremism fuelled by Iran.

phrolen, thanks for continuing to post these Shifting Sands pieces...I'm impressed by how much time you spend thinking about and crafting these.
Are you not going to do your bio/intro anymore? I like it, I think you should include it!

phrolen, the rhetoric from both sides is ramping up. a major aspect of this emerging conflict is the fall of Saddam Hussein. Iraq and Iran kept each other in check since the Iran Iraq war. The US obviously thought that an allied government in Iraq would do the same, but with the continued sectarian violence and the stressed relationship between the Iraqi government and the US that is becoming less of a reality and more of dream.

Iran would never attack any state unless it was attacked, look for the history to make sure about that.
Jerusalem contains one of the holiest Islamic sites, and If Iran attacked anywhere in that area with nukes they will destroy that site for sure...Muslims has a great respect for their religion and holly sites and that's what makes me certain that Iran would never attack anywhere there.
Bush already lied about Iraq, why he wouldn't lie about Iran?

I see Ahmadinejad was furious over the Kidnpping by US troops of 7 Iranian power workers and so was Maliki. They were released a short time ago.
I dont think GW Bush has any political capital left, when Ahmadinejad and Maliki can just tell the US forces what to do like that. I also see a strong Iranian presence just outside Baghdad in Karbala. were it was reported the other day the USA had control.
Looks like that was more BS from AP. I would treat this with the Pinch of Salt it deserves. The USA has been exp[osed as a paper tiger. I wonder what the consequences of this will be for Israel in the longterm. ??

Thanks for the comments everyone, I appreciate you all for reading. I understand everyones point of view and respect it, glad you chose this forum to voice your opinions. Benjamin Melancon, I do not see myself as a neocon propagandist, sorry if I came off that way to you. But when the presidents of both France and the U.S. mboth make statements alluding to a war with Iran. IT IS NEWS. Wheather or not you agree with the news is inconsequential to the fact that the event did indeed occur and was worthy of the attention of this column.

Well done once again, phrolen. As with the previous two Western incursions into the Middle East, it starts with rhetoric, and then with folks thinking to themselves, "ah, it's just talk, nobody'll really invade..." This is most definitely newsworthy.
