Several studies have linked sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) to mutations in a gene, called IL-10, that helps control the body's immune function.

I just have to add a personal note to this article. My son, Eric, whose birthday is on the 15th of September, and who would be 24 this year, died from SIDS. At the time of his death over 10,000 babies a year were dying from SIDS, latest statistics that I have looked at now show that the numbers are down dramatically and approximately 1500 babies die a year. Progress is being made. I hope that soon there will be no more babies dying from SIDS, I pray for that to happen.
