SINGAPORE (Reuters Life!) - Sneakers too run-of-the-mill? For a few hundred dollars Singaporean artists will customise your sports shoes for you.

Singapore's rapidly growing team of "sneakerheads" are catching up with their counterparts in the United States and sprinting to designers' studios to create shoes, or "kicks", that make a statement in this fashion-conscious city-state.

The Straits Times said more young people were now customising their sneakers at a cost of between 450 and 750 Singapore dollars ($300-$500).
