This is an automatic transcription of the voice report: This is Ryan Nadel reporting from Vancouver. As I was leaving my house this morning in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada, I noticed there was no traffic running North and South on Granville. As I reached Granville Street from Balfour Avenue, I saw a white Nissan Sports Car Coup wrap around a lamp post. I never seen a car look like this, it's totally destroyed and the entire street between (King Edward?) and 16th is closed. So, Granville Street between (Kind Edward?) and 16th is closed due to a major car accident. Buses are running normally down the street however they are moving very slowly as they go by this disaster and I'll be filing fixtures probably within half an hour when I get to NowPublic head office. Thank you very much. This is Ryan Nadel reporting from Vancouver.

At 9:00am this morning a CTV camera man was filming the wreckage on the West corner of Balfour and Granville and informed me that the accident happened at 1:45am. Neighbors confirmed that they heard brakes screeching and a loud crash around 1:30am. The passenger is dead and the driver survived and is in the hospital. It is believed that the reason for such extreme speed was street racing and that no drinking or drugs were involved. CTV camera man said that there was another car involved, apparently a Porsche Boxster, which fled the scene. Police still have the crime scene from King Edward to 16th blocked off because they believe that the Nissan hit the curb around Matthews street and lost control. There are fresh white Nike shock runners lying beside the passenger door.

The shocking pictures have been uploaded. The exact details are still unclear, "I think it happened in the middle of the night or early morning, I got
into the station at 5:00 am and there was already a notice up," said the bus driver.
Police were keeping pedestrians and media at least two blocks from the wreck, but when the bus drove by I was able to see shows and other articles of clothing lying on the pavement in addition to shattered.
The car appeared to have been traveling south on Granville street when it went out of control. The car was wrapped around the sidewalk side of the pole. It appears that the car hit a wall and then wrapped itself around the pole or perhaps it hit the pole directly and spun around the pole. There were no visible skid marks on the road.
