Sago! I have been taking photos and footage of the land reclamation on Six Nations of the Grand River Territory (Ontario) since April 2006.  I am a supporter of the land reclamation and live on Six Nations. I want to record what is happening for our future generations and for posterity for my people. These are historic times that we are living in.  Our traditional form of government, the Six Nations Confederacy Council, was forcibly removed from us by the RCMP in 1924 and the Band Council was forced upon us.  The land reclamation in 2006 marks the first time our traditional government has sat down with the Canadian government since 1924.  There has been a resurgence in our community to put our traditional form of government back in its rightful place.  In doing so, we are experiencing growing pains as a community as people grapple with the Band Council system and our traditional form of government. The housing development we reclaimed, formerly known as Douglas Creek Estates, has been remamed Kanonhstaton (The Protected Place) by the people of Six Nations.  There has been many clashes with residents of the  neighbouring town of Caledonia and a lot of racial tension at times. Rallies by the residents of Caledonia were a regular occurance in the summer of 2006 to protest the land reclamation. Today a relative calm has descended on the two communities with occasional minor flare-ups.  It remains calm until a politician or outside agitator makes the issue a platform for whatever message they are pushing that day. But for those of us who actually live here (both in Caledonia and Six Nations) we have come to know this as a by-product of this whole issue.This 'story' is still unfolding and I will try to be timely in keeping you updated.Nya:weh,Sireenaonthe6
