NP Rank:
Six Weeks of Iranian Art
Six weeks
of Iranian Art will be held at the
Headbones art gallery in downtown of Toronto , Canada from July 15, 2007 to August 28, 2007. It features a
variety of Iranian artistic works such as well as unique live performances,
live music, and theatrical shows and short documentary movies in different
settings. We will present many visual works such as photography, painting and
sculpture showing various aspects of Iranian culture and heritage. This show is meant to be an introduction for
a series of annual art shows aimed at preservation and improvement of valuable
causes like multiculturalism, and introduction of the present status of artists
who come of various ethnic backgrounds that may have gone unrecognized.
As a visible growing minority in Canada
with more than 120,000 Iranian-Canadians in the country, in this show we are
trying to preserve and promulgate the Iranian cultural and intellectual
heritage in the Iranian as well as Canadian community. Through this endeavor we
will help provide an appropriate channel for communication and dialogue for the
Iranian community and promote interaction amongst artists
within the context of the Canadian art society. This will aid
and represent Iranian artists in this multicultural society and help their
voices be heard by a larger audience. More importantly this is the first step
towards familiarizing the community with the modernism movement of the Iranian-Canadian
artists that may have gone un-noticed due to lack of proper exposure. This show
is a unique step towards highlighting Canada as a country whose support
of multiculturalism and understanding of art is well established through the
support of its community as well as its government.

pooyan, thanks for this, this sounds like a great exhibit. Can you specify that this is in Toronto in the body of the story? It's in your tags, but it's not in the story itself. Just to clarify if people are interested. Thanks!
