No one can comprehend what goes on in one's mind when the grief of losing a loved one overpowers ones sense of reason.

The body of Paul Cheema, whose wife was slain just five days after they married, has been found in the Surrey, B.C. home where he lived, CTV News has learned.

Sources, such as neighbours and friends, told CTV British Columbia's Julia Foy that Cheema's body was found in the home where he had been living with his parents.

An autopsy will be performed and authorities are investigating the matter as a suspicious death.

Police were first called to the home around 7:15 p.m. on Monday night. An ambulance was also at the home but left a short time later, Foy reported.

Not long afterwards, the coroner was on the scene.

Family members also began to arrive at the home but police would not let most people inside, Foy reported.

On July 5, Cheema called 911 to report a home invasion and told police his wife, elementary school principal Shemina Hirji, was murdered after three men burst into the couple's Burnaby townhouse.

Cheema was questioned and released without charge.

Late Monday night, Integrated Homicide Investigation Team spokesman Cpl. Dale Carr confirmed to CTV that a body had been found.

"We can say we have an individual who is deceased. We're not prepared at this time to offer a gender or offer a manner," Carr said.

"It's just so early in the investigation that we're just not able to go there at this point."
