Smoking kills

About 3,700 people die every year in Santa Fe Province due to tobacco smoking-related diseases, 400 of those from second-hand smoking. The Provincial Tobacco Addiction Programme arrived at these figures by applying international death causality rates. It's been a year since Santa Fe started enforcing one of the toughest anti-smoking laws in the country, which forbids smoking in almost all public or private enclosed spaces. Though the law is being respected, studies have shown that one third of the teenagers in the province's schools smoke.
