Politics can be such a dirty, vicious business...where's the sense of democracy as the highest expression of civilized discourse? At NowPublic we have an alternative: Snap The Vote!

Weeks after Rep. Mark Foley resigned in the congressional page scandal, evangelical leader Ted Haggard is now accused of paying a man for sex. Heading into Tuesday's election, when voters in eight states will decide on gay-marriage bans, liberals and some conservatives are saying that the party that prides itself on family values has a hypocrisy problem.

At NowPublic, we're urging our members to Snap The Vote.

Somewhere buried in some old civics book is the notion that elections are an adventure of power and dignity. Hunh? The sad thing that most of us drag ourselves to the polls with a sense of dread, or duty.

In the Iraqi elections of last January voters proudly held up ink-stained fingers. Now whatever you think about the American invasion and occupation of Iraq, common folks there had a blast making their voices heard.

We think it's time Americans also came to the polls with a sense of adventure.

Snap The Vote! Grab your mobile camera phone, your digital camera.

Show us where you voted - the people who voted around you. The faces, the places, the voting spaces. Help us tell the untold story of millions what it was really like. Talk to others on the way to the polls - turn it into an intimate portrait of politics.

Please make sure you respect local and federal laws about the use of camera in polling areas...but get your photos in as soon as you can!
