Whereas your digital camera or cell phone is your capture device in the physical world, NowPublic's browser add-on, Highlight, is your capture device in the online world. A robust tool, Highlight allows you to "highlight" or quote material for multiple sources - facilitating the process of researching and writing articles. Highlight ensures the popper quoting and attribution of your sources by linking back to them for you, and it has nifty features like auto-tagging (where it recommends and provides an interface for choosing the best tags for your story).

Highlight also integrates with existing blogs and blogging systems so you can simultaneously publish and update multiple sites allowing you to harness all of the power of NowPublic and our community to power and enhance your blogs.  For example, you can write a story and publish it to your blog via Highlight and members of the NowPublic community can collaborate with you by posting relevant photos, which through moderation, you can approve to appear on your blog enhancing your content in helping to increase your readership. You can also use all of the NowPublic tools like our robust mobile reporting capabilities to go out and cover a story on the fly and we'll publish updates to your blog as you go!

I'm excited to pre-announce (the product team and developers might get upset with me for this... but I can't resist!) that we are getting ready to launch a beta of the Internet Explorer version! In fact - I used it to post this story. It's still in the early phases of development and it won't be as robust as the Firefox version to start - but we are looking for a handful of intrepid NowPublic users that are looking to give it a try. If you interested in participating in our pre beta program please drop me a line and I'll pass your information over the folks coordinating that effort. Act now - this is a limited time offer open to the first 20 responders :)

All you FireFox users, if you haven't already checked out the Firefox version of Highlight, you should! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Mashable.com recently named the Mozilla Firefox version of the add-on one of the best social networking toolbars and plug-in for Firefox, and and over 12,000 individuals have downloaded the NowPublic Mozilla Firefox addon:

If you feel like being a reporter, then this extension allows you to almost act like one by allowing you to copy content to NowPublic.com and then people can write articles on it. [/q]

You can read more about the Firefox version (and Highlights capabilities in general) here:

Highlight anything on the web you think is newsworthy and connect to eye witnesses at the scene of the story... NowPublic Highlight lets you grab anything on the web you think is news.
