Snow in June: Chainsaws, Chicks and Beer
It's been fifteen years since Kokanee (sort of a Canadian MGD) has launched a new product, and they celebrated in Vancouver with a winter-in-June party in Kitsilano. Victoria Revay invited me along, and we checked out the scene: Kits regulars, curious onlookers, and the prerequisite Kokanee Girls (every beer company has them).
Evidently, the launch got underway around midday, though Victoria and I were busy with article-posting, good-stuffing, crowdsourcing, bug-squashing, and general editorial duties, so were were fashionably late.
The new product (i.e. "beer") is called Kokanee Ice, and is similar to their earlier product, albeit... colder. My own tastes stray towards the Euro/Asian/Afro/Australian, though I've been known to enjoy Kokanee after a big day out with my snowboard-- such is Kokanee's popular image, by the way. Still, a nice step forward from a company that could easily have coasted on its preexisting reputation.
(I am not affiliated with Kokanee or its promoters. How many free beers does it take for me to write up an event? Three. It takes three beers.)
