Snow, Snow, Snow Dumps On the NorthEast
Area schools were closed and local news reports urged people to stay at home if possible. No planes were flying in or out of Washington's two major airports. Many airlines had cancelled early morning flights in anticipation of the storm.
"Right now we are not operating at either Reagan National or Dulles International. Our crews are still working on the runways and taxiways," said Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokeswoman Tara Hamilton.
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say at least 12 people have been killed as a result of the huge storm system that's pelting parts of the Northeast with snow and ice.
Weather forecasters have issued blizzard warnings for parts of New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine. The region could get up to two feet of snow.
Meanwhile, stiff wind in some parts of Indiana has caused snow drifts that are up to nine feet high.
Utility workers say close to 300,000 homes and businesses have lost power.
This guy went crazy in the snow, and ran from Barnes & Noble, stripping as he went into the park...
Pepperjam’s Brock Siegel (VP of Business Development) was shooting video of the historic snow storm that is crushing the Northeastern part of the United States when a crazy man exits a Barnes & Noble frantic. Brock catches the guy on film as he begins to remove his clothing (down to his underwear) and run through the streets of Wilkes Barre.
Gotta check this out - this video is absolutely crazy!
Truth be told, the snow storm is out of control - we are expecting in excess of 20 inches and about 10 inches of that snowfall is ice. About 10 of us, including Brock made it to work this morning, but the snow continues to come down at an alarming rate.

In the Utica area, in the Mohawk Valley, we received about 29 inches of snow. I know that I am running out of places to put it! Basically everything was shut down yesterday, the list of closings scrolled on the TV all day yesterday. Our local mall never closes and it did, as did local shopping areas. But I am always amazed at the number of people who have to go out in this stuff even when asked repeatedly to stay home and stay off the roads. I can't tell you how many cars were stuck and had to be pushed, pulled or towed to get free!

I must admit, viewing the images from drought affected Australia, it does look very pretty. No doubt the greenhouse effect wil soon melt it all!
