Fire crews guarded homes Wednesday as a massive wildfire crept within a half-mile of hundreds of dwellings in rural Ventura County.

More than 220 fire engines were dispatched to mountain communities threatened by the Day Fire. Crews cleared brush near houses and positioned equipment and hoses to fight the slow-moving flames.

I found Quail Springs through a contact named janski...

Yesterday when I posted this article about the wildfires in Southern California janski emailed me from near Lockwood.

Janski
lives on Quail Springs outside of Lockwood and told me that the fire
has jumped the road nearing the farm.  You can learn more about the farm in this article.

I
thought Quail Springs looked very interesting as a place where ecology
and stewardship are embraced as daily living.  I am hoping the farm
stays safe in the coming days!
