Australia has booked their place in next year's Asian Cup finals with a 2-0 win over Kuwait while defending champions Japan and rival South Korea both took a step closer.

The Aussies, the highest ranked Asian side in the world at 33 after their run into the second round at the World Cup in Germany, left it late with two goals in the last 14 minutes.
