Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year, also called the Water Splashing Festival, celebrated for 3 full days every year in April and in some areas even longer than that. This year Songkran is from the 13th until the 18th of AprilSongkran is a Thai word which means “move” or ‘change place” as it is the day when the sun moves from its real position in the zodiac and it is also known as the water festival because Thai people believe by throwing water on each other bad luck will wash away and the good will, prosperity will take place in their life.
