Choosing to bat first they set an improbable target of 242, thanks mainly to a terrific opening stand of 170 between Smith and Bosman. Finally Bosman was out for 94, which was studded with 9 sixes. England on the other hand started steadily, but were never in the hunt. They also lost wickets at regular intervals. Steyn and Morkel shared 2 wickets each for the Proteas.
