Comrade Mandiba, the former President of the Republic of South Africa will be 88 tomorrow. In his own words on the marble "I was born in Umtata, Transkei, on 18th July 1918. My father died in 1930, after which David Dalindyebo, then acting Paramount Chief of the tribe, became my guardian." Mandiba is currently a great-grandfather, a pensioner, a statesman and an activist against HIV/AIDS and a powerful voice for world peace and social justice.
