Okay, super nerds: I want to hear it. Are we more excited about Spiderman 3 or Harry Potter 5? There are plenty of reasons to be excited about one or the other, certainly, but perhaps the best gauge is that good old fashioned marketing ploy: the trailer. So, based on trailers alone, is it Spidey or Harry P. that promises the best showing? Are the trailers exciting sneak peeks or altogether too much info? Is the thrill gone before you even hit the seats? Comment on the story and let us know.
Here's what people out in the blogosphere are saying about Spidey's trailer:
The venom footage isn't even half of the excessive spoils of the trailer, either. There are plenty of plot points and visuals that may give too much away with the characters of Mary Jane and Harry/Green Goblin 2. I don't even want to go into these spoilers here, because I'd rather let you decide whether or not to watch the trailer. I'm sure a lot of you can wait two months to see Venom (and the rest.) I sure wish that I had. Right now I feel like I've seen an abridged version of the film from beginning to end. And yet, there is still no clear presentation of Bryce Dallas Howard as Gwen Stacy, which I think is kinda weird.
There are quite a few new shots in here, and it has also been re-edited. I'd say this is probably the strongest trailer but here's a word for the marketing people. If you are going to release multiple trailers for the same film, don't make them so similar. I am finding "trailer fatigue" (note that I just coined that term!) at some of the scenes which have been repeated and repeated in each.
And here's the word on HP:
Sweet goodness. Look, you all know that I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but wow... I just LOVE this new international Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix trailer. Sign me up!
And even though it seemed like half of the story was left out of the fourth movie I still liked that one okay. The progression was much different in the books…each new story was better and they seemed to get more intricate…the high mark being the fourth one. The Order of the Phoenix was slightly disappointing to me in written form, but I was expecting quite a bit. Now the movie is almost here and this new director seems to have appeared from nowhere, but it looks like he might provide a fun ride.
You can't keep doing this to us Harry! Don't just waltz into our lives with promises of magical adventure, only to fly out the window with our hearts in tow. It wouldn't be so bad if you made good on your promises, but your games somehow always manage to be magically repellent. Well, you can just fly right off, Boy Who Lived. We're not falling for it this time. In fact, check it out, we're going to start calling you "He Who Shall not Be Gamed." Ooh, burn. What? A trailer for Order of the Phoenix? ... Fine. But that's it. One watch and we're gone. For-ev-er.

First things first...will someone PLEASE clear up for me why he is called "Green Goblin 2" he should be the Hobgoblin, 1st appearance in "The Amazing Spiderman" issue #___ (I need to look it up at home). I am not a huge comic plot fan, but still...why am I always the only one to point this out? :p
Just saw the trailer for HP for the first time, I have to say I am more excited about that than I am Spiderman 3. I have not read any HP books, and despite claiming that I would never watch a HP movie i have seen them all -most on weekend when I was needing a movie fix.
That being said: Venom is my favorite character. If they screw him up in the movie I'll scream.

I prefer the Spidey trailer, though I bemoan the lack of Sandman Coverage. I'm an Aaron Eckhart fan since In the Company of Men-- it'll be great to see him as a super-villain. Whilst Spidey wins for the trailer competition in my book, the HP trailer has the single best image: the figures racing along the Thames on broomsticks in the middle of the night.
