Spiked heroin wreaks havoc in East Hastings, BC
Opinion
Barry Artiste, Now Public Contributor
First, it was Dealers selling marijuana laced with methamphetamines in the lower mainland to hook the users, mostly unsuspecting preteens and teens, and now it is heroin laced with ketamine. This will result in increased dangers for the Public, especially InSite personnel, Hospitals and Police who will now be faced with increasingly, unimaginable dangers by users who were once zombies, now these zombies will turn into psychotics en-masse.
Main and Hasting will surely be an interesting place devoid of Tourists, much to the dismay of area businesses in Chinatown. If this continues with hand holding ineffective policies, politicians kowtowing to special interests, this area (if not already) will be "Ground Zero" and the exclusive domain of Junkies.
Mayor Sam Sullivans dream of one day assuring Vancouver parents of a safe East Hastings, in which he states to parents to one day let their child take the bus to downtown East Hastings for Piano lessons. Now Public Readers must ask themselves, have these drugs already reached City Hall?

Special K-laced-heroin aside, I already feel safe in the DTES. Safer than say, suburban Surrey, or the weekend hell-hole known as Granville St.
