England will host the 2010 Women's Rugby World Cup. The tournament, which will be held in London, will feature 12 of the top women's sides from around the world. The last Women's Rugby World Cup was held in Edmonton, Alberta, where New Zealand defeating England to win the championship. The tournament will be a showcase for a sport that is growing in popularity worldwide.

The tournament was first held in 1991 and has contributed to the steady growth in the women's game worldwide.

In England there are now more than 550 affiliated clubs playing rugby and more than 12,000 women and girls taking part.
