The Boston Celtics the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Cleveland Cavaliers the #2 seed, and the Orlando Magic the #3 seed all lost their games this past Sunday.

The Big 3 of the Eastern Conference all went on the road and lost to teams with below .500 records.

The Boston Celtics went down to the NY Knicks 100-88. The Celtics had a 53-50 halftime lead, but was out scored in the third quarter 28-15 and was never able to over come the dismal quarter. Paul Pierce led Boston with 31 points. Ray Allen added 16 points. Kevin Garnett was held to 6 points on 1-6 shooting. It was by far his worst game of the season.

Wilson Chandler of the Knicks scored a career-high 31 points. Al Harrington came off the bench for New York to score a big 30 points to help the Knicks earn the victory.

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers made a stop to the Nations Capital to take on the Washington Wizards. The Wizards held off a late rally by the Cavs to win a hard fought game 80-77. LeBron scored 30 points, had 10 assists,  to go along with 6 rebounds to lead Cleveland. Cleveland shot only 61% from the free-thrown line 14-23.

The Wizards were led by Antawn Jamison who scored 26 points. Caron Butler poured in 19 points to help the Wizards get only their 7th victory on the season.

The Orlando Magic went north of the border to visit the Toronto Raptors. Dwight Howard had 39 points for the Magic in the 108-102 loss to the Raptors. The Magic bench contributed only 16 points in the defeat. Toronto was led by Anthony Johnson the 5th-year guard who scored 26 points on 13-16 shooting. Chris Bosh had an impressive double-double with 23 points and 11 assisits.

The Celtics, Cavaliers, and Magic are clearly the 3 best teams in the Eastern Conference. What a way to start off the new year with all 3 losing on Wild Card Sunday.

The Celtics have been off their stride since losing to the LA Lakers Christmas Day breaking a then 19-game win streak.
