Ground Reality and Pitch:

The pitch had something in it for seamers of all types, as Ishant Sharma and Sourav Ganguly showed, but the many cameos in the Kolkata-Mohali match also gave indication that there were runs to be had.

Team News:

Delhi Daredevils: They steam-rollered Mohali in their only match of the IPL so far, but that was a rain-shortened affair. They would have ideally liked to get in a full 20 over match in - not so much for the batsmen who have been in scintillating form - but for their bowlers. If McGrath is match-fit, he will take the place of Dirk Nannes, and should provide a compelling site when he bowls to Matthew Hayden. With probably the best batting line-up in the tournament, they would back themselves to get to any target.

Chennai Super Kings: Were a trifle flat against Mumbai, but turned it on in style against Bangalore, and would look to keep the momentum going against a team that will prove their sternest test yet. The core of their team has a settled look to it, and they are likely to retain the same eleven that they had against Bangalore. Two batsmen who haven't had the chance to display their wares fully are Albie Morkel and Badrinath - both of whom are a treat to watch when they get going. Also, if Delhi's openers are still there when Muralitharan comes on to bowl, expect some fireworks.

Players to Watch:

Virender Sehwag: He is always the player to be watched, no matter the match, the format or the opposition! The most feared opener in the world today, his complete disregard for the bowler or the match situation make him the delight to watch that he is.

Matthew Hayden: The supposedly 'over-the-hill' star still has what it takes, as he showed in the two matches he's played so far. He is probably the only player who would come close to inspiring the kind of awe and sleepless nights to bowlers that Sehwag does. Might not be the prettiest to watch, but there is no arguing with his effectiveness.

Trivia:

It is commonly thought that the ICC changed the laws regarding bowling to accommodate Muralitharan. However, what actually happened is that while measuring the degree to which Muralitharan's arm bends and comparing it with other bowlers, they realized that every bowler bends his arm to a certain degree, and that therefore, as per the existing laws, all bowlers' actions were illegal. It was then determined that the human eye could not discern bends lower than 15 degrees, hence the law was changed to account for this fact. Now a ball will be deemed to be illegal only if it is bowled with the elbow bending more than 15 degrees.
