Aaron Douglas, who played for the University of Tennessee before switching to the University of Alabama, had collapsed at a party on May 12, 2011 while on vacation in Fernandina Beach, Florida. An autopsy revealed several drugs is Douglas' system:

  • Methadone: used to aid in recovery from heroin addiction, but addictive in its own right
  • Diazepam (Vallium): an anti-anxiety drug
  • Carisoprodol: a muscle relaxant used in sports medicine
  • Marijuana
  • Several different tranquilizers

No alcohol was found in Douglas' system. The autopsy's conclusion was that Aaron Douglas died accidentally due to multiple drug toxicity.
