Aaron Douglas Overdose: College Football Star Overdosed on Methadone, Caisoprodol, Diazepam
Aaron Douglas, who was found dead at age 21 in May, was determined to have died from a drug overdose.
Aaron Douglas, who played for the University of Tennessee before switching to the University of Alabama, had collapsed at a party on May 12, 2011 while on vacation in Fernandina Beach, Florida. An autopsy revealed several drugs is Douglas' system:
- Methadone: used to aid in recovery from heroin addiction, but addictive in its own right
- Diazepam (Vallium): an anti-anxiety drug
- Carisoprodol: a muscle relaxant used in sports medicine
- Marijuana
- Several different tranquilizers
No alcohol was found in Douglas' system. The autopsy's conclusion was that Aaron Douglas died accidentally due to multiple drug toxicity.
