Aaron Rome Hit on Nathan Horton: Video
Canucks-Bruins: Aaron Rome Hits Nathan Horton
Game 3 was definitely the most aggressive in the 2011 Stanley Cup finals so far. The hit that kicked it all off in the first period, and definitely the biggest hit of the series, was Aaron Rome's brutal open-ice hit on Nathan Horton. Horton was knocked out, and was brought off the ice on a stretcher.
Nathan Horton is in the hospital, and Aaron Rome was ejected from the game. The NHL is holding a disciplinary meeting today (June 7). We'll see how serious the league is when it says it's cracking down on head-shots.
The Aaron Rome hit on Nathan Horton definitely fired up the Boston side: the Bruins blew the Canucks away, 8-1. Horton had already passed the puck when Rome slammed shoulder-first into his head. No replay angle can sell that as a legit hit: a hit is only legal if it takes place within half a second of the puck being past.
