Adam Scott launches the Adam Scott Foundation Asia by D Seow

Singapore, Sept 11 2008,

Australian Golfer Adam Scott announced plans to launch the Adam Scott Foundation Asia at the Forbes Global CEO conference yesterday. "I’m establishing an organization that will support and offer opportunities to young people in Asia. Based in Singapore it will be an extension of my Australian foundation which I started in 2005."

It was while he was touring with the PGA in the US, that Scott started participating in various PGA sanctioned charity projects, such as  hospital visits, golf clinics, and getting children involved with Golf. Inspired by the difference the golfing community could make, Scott established The Adam Scott Foundation to provide young people with a greater range of options to enable them to enhance their career and possibilities in life.

Current projects include The Adam Scott Foundation Young Care apartments, which are being construted on the Gold Coast in Queensland to accomodate young people requiring 24 hour care, and the Adam Scott Foundation Bachelor of Business Scholarship at Griffith University.

"For me, bringing happiness into a young person’s life is very rewarding. Although I am only 28 years old, I wanted to set up my foundation now and start giving back to the community before later in my life."

Singapore was chosen as the headquaters for the Asian arm of his foundation for several reasons, including the youth factor. "The 2010 Youth Olympics will be here and my foundation is all about youth. My board and I  recognise that Singapore is establishing itself as a hub for  the region in philanthropy. And I think this is a great place for my foundation to be based." In addition Scott is familiar with the country having won the Barclay's Singapore Open two years in a row.

Adam Scott Foundation Asia's charter  aims to to support disadvantaged and underprivileged youth by providing opportunities to fulfil potential or overcome difficulties throughout life’s journey. The Foundation will provide grants and undertake special projects in support of strong charitable organisations in Singapore and around the region  to promote health, lifestyle and education.

Scott expects the first fundraising events for the Adam Scott Foundation Asia to take place when he returns to the island republic in November for the Barclay's Singapore Open Tournament. Scott says those interested in making contributions to the foundation can do so by volunteering at events or making donations through the website. "Part of the foundation is about creating awareness through that Charity, so having that participation would be great as well."
