Adrienne Simmons, a Female Kickboxer Has Died After Receiving a Strong Blow on Sunday

She died Monday afternoon according to the Orlando Regional Medical Center after she participated in the 2010 IKF World Classic sponsored by the International Kick-Boxing Federation.

She was treated by a doctor after receiving a hard left hook, but the Kick-Boxing Federation did not respond for a comment. According to the Orlando Sentinel Adrienne Simmons was fighting Lindsay Scheer in a Muay Thai match, where they use elbows, hands, knees and feet to beat their competition.

There seemed to be nothing unusual about the fight, and it was stopped as soon as Simmons went down. She was attended to at ringside, then when she sat up and spoke she was taken away, but shortly after that was airlifted to hospital.

Simmons' boyfriend, Chike Lindsay-Ajudua, said in an interview with WFTV Channel 9 that Simmons was a caring person who had been working on a master's degree in education.

It is not known much time passed between when she collapsed and when she was taken to hospital.

On her Facebook page, which also is open to the public, Scheer late Monday night described Simmons as brave and wrote that part of herself had died along with Simmons.

"I have literally been inconsolable since that moment," Scheer wrote. "I did not know what it really felt like to cry. I was and am broken."
