Afghan boxers win five gold medals in India

Afghan boxers have won five gold medals in the Asian Full Contact Kickboxing Championship held in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />India, official said on Tuesday.
The players also grabbed a bronze medal in the 15-nation boxing championship among 40 Asian countries.
Officials of the National Olympic Committee said Afghanistan won five gold, one silver and a bronze medal in the competitions. Seven players, two trainers and a leader of the teams participated in the games.
Talking to journalists on Tuesday, head of the team Noorullah Sharokhi said Salman Sultani joined the 85kgs category, Wali Hotak, 63kg, Ghulam Raza Rasuli, 57kg, Aminullah Hussain, 53kgs and Haseebullah Faizi joined in the 67kgs category.
He said Abdul Wase Qayumi won the gold medal in the 75 kilograms category competitions.
Media officer with Olympic committee Muhammad Arif Paiman told this news agency Afghan player Atifi won the bronze medal in the 52 kilograms category. Atifi told this news agency that he had defeated players from Iran, India and Bangladesh.
Head of the National Olympic Committee Muhammad Zahir Ahghbar told the gathering that the government had promised to give a reward of 100,000 afghanis to the winner of gold medal, 80,000 to those winning the silver medal and 50,000 to those who had got the bronze medal.
