St. Louis Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa And Albert Pujols To Attend Glenn Beck Restoring Honor Rally In Washington
Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa and his super star player Albert Pujols are scheduled to be honorees at Glen Beck's Restoring Honor in America rally on Saturday.
A rally that is becoming increasingly politically charge; a rally that Glenn Beck insists is not about politics but merely about "taking back the civil rights movement."
The Glenn Beck rally is taking place Saturday August 29th. The same day in 1963 when Martin Luther King delivered his famous plea for racial equality , the "I have a dream" speech.
Glenn Beck is hoping to draw 300,000 people to the rally at the Lincoln Memorial.
Apparently, Tony La Russa agrees with Glenn Beck that the rally is simply about restoring honor in America, according to the St. Lous Post Dispatch
"I made it clear when we were approached: I said, 'If it's political, I wouldn't even approach Albert with it.' I don't want to be there if it's political," La Russa said.
"I made the point several times: What is this about?" La Russa said Thursday, noting an understanding that invitations were 'sent out across party lines, different disciplines, all kinds of stuff.
"I don't know who's going to be there, who's going to accept it. But the gist of the day is not political. I think it's a really good concept, actually."
Albert Pujols meet and autographed some bats for Glenn Beck when the Fox News personality in June at Busch Stadium.
Tony La Russa caused a minor stir earlier in 2010 when he came out in support of Arizona's anti-immigration law.
