Italian football star Alessandro Del Piero is planning to take legal action against Facebook after a fake profile of him appeared on the site.

The fake profile featured photos of Del Piero as well as links to a Nazi propaganda group. There are currently several Alessandro Del Piero profiles on Facebook and none of them have been set up by the Juventus star. Whether the offending profile is still on the site remains unclear.

Del Piero's agent and brother, Stefano Del Piero, has said that the Juventus striker is upset about having his image associated with a Nazi group and is willing to take legal action to protect his image.

Italian football has a history of pro-fascist tendencies amongst fans and players. Teams like Lazio and Inter Milan have many pro-fascist supporters. In 2005, Lazio player Paulo di Canio made a fascist salute during a game.

Di Canio was fined for making a racist gesture. He defended his actions with this little gem:

"I am a fascist, not a racist".
