Nanaimo's BCHL team, the Clippers, treated their fans to an exciting win over the Langley Chiefs Friday night, with a seven/two victory. They bounced back from a nine/nothing drubbing at the hands of the Chiefs earlier in the week.
This was the fifth in a seven game series to decide who would meet the Penticton Vipers for the provincial championships. The Clippers have chalked up three wins to the Chiefs two. The teams meet again tonight in Langley at 7 pm. It promises to be a hard fought game.
The Chiefs' game suffered from too many penalties. They were often playing shorthanded and the Clippers had their powerplay lines working Friday night.
Nanaimo certainly fits the description of a "hockey town" as the arena is usually packed and fans loudly support their home team.
