American Football @ Wembley, 13494.11 Frequent Flyer Miles
Football @ Wembley
This weekend the NFL show roles into joy ol’ England. There will be no hooligans, headers, or hand of god goals, this weekend, Wembley has shed her goal mouth and corner squares in favour of the short skirts and pom-poms of the National Football League.
NFC South cellar dwellers, the New Orleans Saints will be the host team despite being 4627.35 miles away from their home dig @ the Louisiana Superdome.
The "visiting" San Diego Chargers, road weary following a recent cross country trip that started with a 17-10 loss in Miami, and a 2268.62 mile flight back to the teams west coast home to be embarrassed by the New England Patriots 30-10. It doesn’t end there however, tack on another 2182.26 frequent flyer miles from San Diego, California to Buffalo, New York for a back breaking loss to the playoff bound, boarder hopping Bills. Now it’s 3562.32 miles across the Atlantic ocean to London, England, home to pot pie, David Beckham and the incomparable Pith hat.
8013 miles in just three weeks!
The Chargers opponents this week also have the misfortune of having to travel across the Atlantic 3991.07 miles from the site of their last game in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Saints may have actually had the longer flight to England but following a three week schedule prior to the flight that only witnessed the team cover 648.09 air-miles, the Saints three week travel log registers a mediocre....
4639.16 miles in just three weeks!
Wagering:
Betting the Saint may seem plausible but for now this reporter will be sitting on his hand, if you witnessed the debacle that was last years NFL England experience you will know exactly what I’m talking about but for those in the dark, let me bring the light. The field condition were terrible, think pretty little soccer players in short shorts and shin pad being trampled by 300 lbs linemen with hard hats and bad intentions, the field just couldn’t hold up. There was almost no scoring, both teams being completely shutout during one half or the other and the final score 13-10 in favour of the eventual SuperBowl champions, the New York Giants was completely indicative of just how unpredictable this Sunday’s game @ Wembley could be. Last seasons game produced a paper thin victory for the Leagues eventual champions against a Miami Dolphins team that struggled last season to achieve even a single victory. The Chargers are certainly coming into this weekend game at little road weary but when it comes to American Football at Wembley lets just say once bitten, twice.....

Following the game Sunday against the Saints, the Chargers will travel home 5481.11 miles for a week off and some much needed R&R. On November 9th the Chargers, fresh off the weeks rest will host the Kansas City Chiefs, now the Chiefs are horrible and nobody could really expect them to win, however the Chargers will be at the end of a five week 13494.11 mile globetrot and will represent a smart fade play. Take the Chiefs and the points.
