For the first time in a while, the Los Angeles Lakers will not play in the NBA Finals. The Lakers represented in the Western Conference in the last three NBA Finals, and won two championships. But this year it wasn't meant to be as the Lakers got swept by the Dallas Mavericks in their 2011 NBA playoff match-up.

The Los Angeles Lakers didn't take the loss well, particularly big man Andrew Bynum. With the game out of reach, Andrew Bynum committed a hard foul on JJ Barea of the Mavs and was promptly ejected from the game.

The Andrew Bynum flagrant foul on JJ Barea occurred in the fourth quarter of the NBA Western Conference Semi-final on May 8, 2011. Barea charged to the basket and Bynum leaped up and elbowed Barea in the chest. Bynum no attempt to play the ball and was promptly ejected from the game. Barea laid motionless on the floor for a moment, but eventually left the court.

Earlier in the game, Lakers forward Lamar Odom was also ejected from the game for flagrant fouls.

The Andrew Bynum elbow on JJ Barea marks the second time that the Mavs guard has been victimized by a brutal Lakers foul. Earlier this week, Ron Artest clotheslined JJ Barea in Game 2 of the series.

The Mavericks went on to win Game 4 by a score of 122-86, sweeping the Lakers in four games. The Mavs will now head to the Western Conference Finals where they will face the winner of the Oklahoma City Thunder-Memphis Grizzlies series.
