After Andy Murray's shock defeat in the Olympic tennis tournament earlier in the week any hope of a British tennis medal was blown off the court this afternoon when with his brother Jamie he was beaten by the French pairing of Michael Llodra and Arnaud Clement in the men's doubles. Britain had great hopes for their first ever Olympic tennis medal with Murray now ranked 6th in the world and hitting top form in the lead up to Beijing.

Britain's hopes of medal in the Olympic tennis tournament are over after Andy and Jamie Murray were thrashed by the French pair of Michael Llodra and Arnaud Clement in the second round of the men's doubles.

The brothers were outclassed as Llodra and Clement ran out 6-1, 6-3 winners in just 66 minutes on a sweltering evening in the Chinese capital.

The French duo, who won the Wimbledon mens' doubles title in 2007, looked every inch grand-slam winners at the Tennis Centre in Beijing's Olympic Park, breaking serve twice in each set to silence the British contingent among a 200-strong crowd.

If you follow tennis you would not "shock" of the defeat, the Murray are not known as a double team. In tennis, single and double play are very different,  a good single player not always suscess in double. better luck for Andy in single.

Andy did not play well in Beijing (he is out in singles already) - Everyone can have a bad week and this was definatly Andy Murray's.
