Antonio Cromartie Twitter: Chargers Fine $2500 For Food Tweet
Antonio Cromartie has been fined $2,000 by the San Diego Chargers for complaining about team meals via Twitter. The cornerback tweeted about the food being served at Chargers training camp.
Here is the offending Antonio Cromartie twitter comment:
"Man we have 2 have the most nasty food of any team. Damn can we upgrade 4 str8 years the same ish maybe that's y we can't we the SB we need."
The move comes as the NFL appears to be trying to clamp down on players using Twitter. Earlier the league outlawed players from tweeting during games (a rule that Chad Ocho Cinco says he will break). The Green Bay Packers have threatened to fine players who tweet during team meetings. The Miami Dolphins appear to have outlawed it altogether.
For many, it appears that NFL teams are trying to curb Twitter usage as a way of controlling what information about the team is made public.
Football coaches are a password-protected lot, preferring to dispense so little information that most days, they would struggle to fill 140 characters. They worry that the casual nature of Twitter could inspire the budding bloggers in their locker rooms to inadvertently disclose more than they should about injuries, game plans and what is said behind closed doors.
