Augusta State Jags Bid Comes Up Short, Fall to Winona St. 87-76
Augusta State's Dream Season Ends, Falls to Winona
Springfield, MA- Augusta State's dream season ended Saturday in the Division Two National Title game as the Jags come up short in falling to Winona St. 87-76
The Jags came out on fire and actually led by 16 at one point in the first half. A.S.U. shot 67% as AJ Bowman lit up the nets for 20 points while Ben Madgen added 14. Augusta State seemed to be in control, but a late bucket just before the half time horn cut the lead to 8 as the score was 44-32.
But Winona State would show why they've been to the title game three straight years and came out on fire. Despite two early slams by Garret Siler, the Warriors quickly cut the lead and with AJ Bowman with four fouls, they would tie it at 58 midway through the half. Then led by All-American Jonte Flowers, the Warriors would pull out to a ten point lead. While the Jags struggled from the field, Winona State did not, as Flowers lit up the Jags for 29 points with most of them in the second half.
