An inconsistent Pakistan will face Australia in do-or-die situation and need nothing less than a big win in their final Super Eights stage match World Twenty20 here on Tuesday.
Pakistan has to play remarkably to advance to the next level, if they get able to grab a victory against the unbeaten Aussies even then there is no surety for them to play in the Semi-finals. They have to win with big margin to book a place in the knock out round. There is another possibility if Pakistan lose to Australia, they still can make it to the semis. Only and only if South Africa will beat India and the NRR of both India and South Africa must be lower than that of Pakistan. The probable Pakistani squad will include: Mohammad Hafeez (capt.), Imran Nazir, Kamran Akmal (wk), Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Nasir Jamshed, Saeed Ajmal, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Akmal, Umar Gul, Yasir Arafat, Abdul Razzaq, Mohammad Sami, Asad Shafiq, Raza Hasan.
On the other hand, Australian side has almost assured a semifinal berth with a commanding eight-wicket victory over South Africa in their last game on Sunday. Australian side is performing at its best with the top-order batsmen in roaring form and the frontline bowlers among the wickets. The main worry for Pakistan would be out bursting Australian openers Shane Watson and David Warner, who have become the most successful pair in the T20 Internationals. The likely Australian line-up will include: George Bailey (capt), Dan Christian, Pat Cummins, Xavier Doherty, Ben Hilfenhaus, Brad Hogg, David Hussey, Michael Hussey, Glenn Maxwell, Clint McKay, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Shane Watson, Cameron White.
ESPN-Star Cricket will also be live streaming the match live at its official website at 10:00 GMT onwards.
The BBC reported, "Pakistan's Twenty20 team are being monitored by their cricket board in Sri Lanka to avoid a spot-fixing scandal.
"Coach Dav Whatmore and his T20 squad have not been interacting with supporters in their hotel in Sri Lanka or at net practice sessions. They are also refusing to speak to anyone without the permission of Pakistan's media manager."
Cricnext.com wrote, "Aware that one more defeat will ensure their exit from the tournament if India manage to beat South Africa later in the evening on Tuesday, Pakistan, after a win and a loss, have to clinch it against Australia to have any chance of making the semi-finals."
"As expected, the Premadasa Stadium surface is growing more sluggish and spin friendly with each passing match. It will not be too far removed from the Dubai surface on which Australia and Pakistan last met."
The squads are as below:
Pakistan: 1 Mohammad Hafeez, 2 Imran Nazir, 3 Nasir Jamshed, 4 Kamran Akmal, 5 Shoaib Malik, 6 Umar Akmal, 7 Shahid Afridi, 8 Umar Gul, 9 Yasir Arafat, 10 Saeed Ajmal, 11 Raza Hasan.
Australia: 1 David Warner, 2 Shane Watson, 3 Mike Hussey, 4 Cameron White, 5 George Bailey, 6 Glenn Maxwell, 7 Matthew Wade, 8 Brad Hogg, 9 Pat Cummins, 10 Mitchell Starc, 11 Xavier Doherty.

The equation is pretty easy for Pakistan. Nothing less than a win can see them into the semi-finals. For Australia, the day is easier. They just need to avoid a hefty defeat to make a place in the last four theirs.
Barring something remarkable, Australia have already qualified for the semi-finals. It would take a huge defeat today and a huge win for India in the other game to deny them, and the Aussies have been more in the 'inflicting huge defeats on other people' business in this tournament. Despite having no discernable middle order they've progressed because of the magnificent form of Shane Watson with bat and ball. If it is possible to win an international contest on the shoulders of one man then they may well do so.
Xavier Doherty, the left arm spinner, had a fine game against South Africa on Sunday but may well lose his place (either to Clint McKay or, if the Aussies are feeling really cocky, Dan Christian) as Pakistan are better players of spin than the Proteas.
Pakistan
For years now, Pakistan teams have had two settings - the 'look like they could beat anyone' setting and the 'look like they have never played cricket before' setting. Worryingly, they have slipped into the second mode. Against South Africa last week they got away with an inept batting performance, but against India on Sunday they didn't. The heavy loss leaves them needing a win against the Australians, as both South Africa and India can easily surpass their net run rate in the second game.
Pakistan have made the fewest changes to their side over the course of the tournament and against Australia they will probably stick with the same side which played India and South Africa, meaning a four-pronged spin attack and no place for the left arm seam of Sohail Tanvir.
