Baltimore Orioles Reveal New Uniforms
The Baltimore Orioles revealed new uniforms at a press conference on Wednesday.
The team's logo and classic black-and-orange color scheme remain largely unchanged. There were minor changes to the uniform, however. For the first time in years, the team's road jerseys will feature the word "Baltimore" rather than "Orioles" written in cursive script. The team also unveiled new alternate jerseys.
The udpated jerseys will also feature patches on the sleeve. The patch on the home jersey will say “Baltimore Orioles” with the colors of the Maryland flag. The away patch says "Orioles baseball" along with the color of the state flag.
The team's bird logo has also been changed, but only an ornithologist will be able to tell the difference. The old bird and new bird look virtually identical. According to the team, the bird looks more like a traditional oriole with its head tilted upward and it feathers more puffed out. The bird's feet are also perched rather than flat.
Still, many fans are disappointed that the old Orioles cartoon logo used in the 70s wasn't brought back.
