Bangladesh Earns Historic Cricket Win Over New Zealand

Bangladesh earned its first ever one-day international win over New Zealand. The Bangladeshi side defeated the Kiwis by seven wickets. It was Bangladesh's first win in 12 one-day matches against New Zealand. It also marks the country's fifth one-day match win against one of the world's top cricketing powers.

The victory was unexpected, considering the recent controversy surrounding the Bangladeshi team.

And the victory with 27 balls to spare was even more unexpected as last month the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) handed 10-year bans to 13 of its players associated with the ICL, a tournament run in direct competition to the officially recognised Indian Premier League.

Ashraful, who was appointed Bangladesh captain last year, said success was a result of his team's togetherness.

"I am happy that we played as a unit," he said.

"I am elated that it's the first win against New Zealand and first against a major country under my captaincy."

Good stuff Jon, it's great to see some cricket coverage on NP that is not just an ad for another site and that credits the real source for the news.

This is really a true triumphant victoty of Bangladesh. I am quite exultant about this. This is the moment of celebration for all all Bangladeshi at home or abroad. But the team should not be over confident and i hope they will continue this voyage. Best wishes to Bangladesh.
