Bangladesh won the toss and decided to field against Sri Lanka in the final league match of the tri-series one-day international tournament on Wednesday here at Mirpur.

The match was reduced to 31 overs a side after dense fog delay the start for more than three hours. Shakib Al Hasan was named Man of the Match for his breathtaking innings of 92.

What a magnificent win for Bangladesh by 5 wickets. They were the underdogs and compulsorily needed a win if they were to make it to the final and they delivered. Their bowlers bowled consistent lines and got crucial wickets at regular intervals. Rubel Hossain (4/33) was the pick of the bowlers as he used his pace to good effect. Moshrafe Mortaza (3/25) supported him ably and together they restricted the Lankans to 147 allout. Despite getting off to a disastrous start and losing three wickets in the first four overs, Bangladesh recovered superbly with the help of man of the match Shakib Al Hasan (92*) who played a blistering yet controlled innings to guide his team through to the target in 23.5 overs. In the end. Muralitharan and Mendis were registered useless by Shakib and in the end they won with the bonus point though that would have made no difference as an outright win would have been enough. They are through to the final and will face Sri Lanka on Friday. They deserve to be there and will be looking to cause another upset and win the tournament.
