Three titles and personal records

Roger Bogunyà Samuel Eto'o, Carles Puyol, Thierry Henry and Gerard Piqué have all entered the record books as a result of last night’s victory in the Champions League.

When a team achieves the treble the way Barça has then it’s quite normal to see a few records broken. But there are not always so many individual stories to tell, stories which will take the players into the Club’s collective memory. Eto'o, Puyol, Henry and Piqué have just such stories to tell.

WEB_12.jpgEto'o strikes again: The Cameroon international became the first Barça player to score in two different Champions League finals. He scored the equaliser against Arsenal in Paris and added the opening goal against Manchester United On Wednesday evening. He joins a select group of 13 players who have scored in two different finals – the last person to achieve this was Raúl (Real Madrid).

Puyol, the captain with the most CL medals: Many Barça captains have achieved fame but none of them had ever managed to win two Champions Leagues defending the Barça colours. But apart from Carles, many players in the current squad have also collected two CL winners’ medals with Barça - Valdés, Jorquera, Márquez, Sylvinho, Eto'o, Xavi, Iniesta and Messi.

ZUERAS_FC.BARCELONA_-_MANCHESTER_UNITED_FINAL_CHAMPIONS_TROFEO_27-05-09_102.JPGHenry wins it all: Thierry Henry signed for FC Barcelona having already won the World Cup, the Confederations Cup, the French league, the Premier League (twice) and 3 FA Cups. He was the Premier League’s top scorer four times and Golden Boot twice. The only thing missing was the Champions League – until last night.

Gerard Piqué, two in a row: At the tender age of 22, Gerard Piqué has won the Champions League two years in a row, firstly with Manchester United and now with FC Barcelona. He forms part of a group of just three players - the others being Marcel Desailly (Olympique Marseille and AC Milan) and Paulo Sousa (Juventus and Borussia Dortmund).

Sergio Busquets, from father to son: Sergio’s father won a CL medal with Barça in 1992 so now he and his son can stand proud alongside the winning father and son teams of Maldini (AC Milan) and Sanchís (Real Madrid).
