The BCCI Awards 2011, the 4th Annual Awards Ceremony, was held on 31st May 2011 at the Sea side Lawns, Taj Land’s End, Bandra, Mumbai. It was a light glittering ceremony where current and many former Indian cricket players were present.
The current Indian cricket team, which won the 2011 World Cup under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, was congratulated.
Polly Umrigar Trophy went to veteran cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar, for his performance in 2009-2010 year. It was the second time he was given this trophy. He was the receiver of the Polly Umrigar Trophy in 2006-2007. Sachin Tendulkar thanks his teammates for making it possible. Besides receiving a trophy, he was handed Rs 5 lakh from Mr. Manohar and BCCI secretary N. Srinivasan.
On the other hand, Salim Durrani, former Indian all-rounder, was given the C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement award. Along with a trophy, he also received a cheque for Rs. 15 lakh from BCCI president Shashank Manohar.
Because of winning back the ICC trophy after 28 years, each player of the Indian squad was awarded a cheque of Rs. 2 crore for their performance. The supporting staff that started with Coach, Gary Kirsten, up to the yoga trainer was presented Rs 50 lakh each.
The presence of the 1983 World Cup winning team players- Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Sandhu and Yashpal Sharma, added extra attraction of the BCCI Awards function 2011.
