Nanaimo hockey fans had something to cheer about Friday night at the Frank Crane Arena when the hometown Nanaimo Clippers scored three goals to the Burnaby Chiefs' one. It was the first at home win this season for the Nanaimo Clippers who currently reside at the bottom of the Coastal Division. Sea Dog was back in the arena and he had good reason to beat his drum.
The lone goal scored by the Burnaby Chiefs came on a powerplay. There were few penalty minutes served by either team on Friday, but it looked like a lot of sharp elbows were at work. The Burnaby Chiefs goal tender drew a penalty for stick work on a Nanaimo Clipper.
The Nanaimo Clippers next play at home at the Frank Crane Arena on Sunday afternoon against the Victoria Grizzlies.
