BCHL Nanaimo Clippers lost in overtime to the Alberni Bulldogs in overtime  on Sunday afternoon at the Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo.  Final score was Nanaimo Clippers 2 Alberni Bulldogs 3.  Nanaimo Clippers came to the arena ready to play and scored in the opening minutes of the first period.  At the end of the first period the score stood at Clippers 2 Alberni zero.  After that the Clippers couldn't put one past the Alberni netminder.

Alberni Bulldogs first goal of the evening came with a slider into the goal net, including the Alberni player.  All subsequent goals were scored with a man advantage.  The winning shot in overtime saw the Nanaimo Clippers playing shorthanded.

From the point of view of a non player, it seemed that the officials played a large part in the game Sunday afternoon.  Missed calls and phantom penalties, affecting both sides, led to escalating retaliations. Clipper Coach Bill Bestwick was tossed off the bench for his loud protests. Praise should be given to these young men for their composure while playing under such difficult circumstances.

Nanaimo Clippers have nearly a week to regroup and give time for some of their top players to come off the injury list.  Nanaimo Clippers play their last home game of the year on Saturday, December 12 against the Langley Chiefs.
