BCHL Nanaimo Clippers lost to Surrey Eagles in a double overtime squeaker Friday night at the Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo.  The final score was  Nanaimo Clippers 4, Surrey Eagles 5.

Friday night was the Nanaimo Clippers' Teddy Bear Toss for the annual Christmas toy drive.  The fans were able to toss the teddies early in the first period, donating enough stuffed toys to fill a pickup and an SUV.  It looked like the Nanaimo Clippers were on their way to a much needed win.  Surrey Eagles put a damper on that.  Half way through the second period, Surrey Eagles had scored three goals and held off the Nanaimo Clippers to their one, early goal.

The third period saw a much more energetic Nanaimo team emerge from the locker room.  They put in a fresh goalie and fired three goals past the Surrey Eagles netminder.  Score at the end of the third period was tied 4/4.

During the first sudden death overtime, the Nanaimo Clippers failed to capitalize on a two man advantage.  Surrey player #4 Regier was given a game misconduct to the loud approval of the Nanaimo fans.  Second overtime period Surrey Eagles scored for the win.  This was a battle of the goalies with Surrey Eagles stopping 41 shots and Nanaimo Clippers stopping 32.

Nanaimo Clippers play again on Sunday, December 6 at home against top rated Alberni Bulldogs.
