Friday night at the Frank Crane Arena saw the hometown Nanaimo Clippers win an important game against the Burnaby Express.  The final score was Nanaimo Clippers 6 and the Burnaby Express 4.

Burnaby Express came out strong in the first period, scoring a goal at the 34 second mark.  It didn't look good for the Nanaimo Clippers. The Nanaimo team is one that never gives up and doggedly fought back, matching Burnaby goal for goal, finally pulling ahead.  The coup de grace was an empty net goal in the dying minutes of the game.

The game was a rough one with many infractions  -- butt ending, cross checking, fighting.  Missed infractions by the game officials seemed to escalate action by the players on both teams, who looked to me as if they were settling scores themselves.

The Nanaimo Clippers will be looking to extend their winning streak on Sunday, November 15 when they meet the Cowichan Valley Capitals at the Frank Crane Arena.
