BCHL Nanaimo Clippers Win Against Cowichan Capitals
Nanaimo Clippers held their first home game of the new year in Frank Crane Arena Friday night, playing the Cowichan Capitals. The first period looked dismal for the Nanaimo fans when the Caps went ahead by 2. The Clippers have been struggling the past few games and have slipped to third place in the Coastal Division. Nanaimo fans are used to seeing their hockey team at the top of the division and are pretty hard on the boys when they slip from the pinnacle. Many fans left at the end of the second period when it looked like the Shipmen were going to suffer another drubbing.
Tempers flaired at times between the Clippers(in black) and the Capitals(white).
The Clippers showed grit and determination and by the end of the third period had scored two goals to tie the game. They scored the winner in sudden death overtime. It was hard to say whether the players or the fans were more jubilant with the three/two win.
Clippers play the Alberni Bulldogs tonight in Alberni and again in Nanaimo Sunday afternoon at 3 pm.
