UPDATE: Alabama now ranks at the top of the BCS standings. For a full list of the BCS Top 25 ranking for Nov. 2, see below.

The University of Alabama Crimson Tide has been voted to the top of the AP Top 25 college football teams. The team also ranks #1 in the USA Today coaches' poll. The Tide moved past the University of Texas, who relinquished the top spot after a 39-33 loss to arch-rivals Texas Tech on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide rolled past their opponent this week, crushing Arkansas State 35-0.

Alabama is now the fifth team this season to top the AP Top 25 poll. The University of Georgia started the season in top spot before losing it to USC. The Trojans lasted four weeks before Oklahoma took over #1. The Sooners were the top-ranked team in the AP poll for two weeks, then lost to the University of Texas, who held the top spot for three weeks.

This is the first time Alabama has been ranked #1 since 1992. Just how long the Tide remain on top remains to be seen. Judging by this year's topsy-turvy season, they may not stay at #1 until the end of the season.

While the AP poll is prestigious, the Coaches' Poll and the Harris Interactive poll is part of the formula to determine the BCS standings and what team will play for the National Championship.

The AP poll is not part of BCS rankings, but chooses an independent champion.

The final BCS standings will be released Dec. 7 and the national-title game to be held Jan. 8 in Florida.

I thought this was a classic photo. This was actually taken before the game. I don't know what they are being so animated about.......I could take a guess, but it would be just that. Leisa DeThomas

I'm so sad Texas lost ...and to Tech!  Horrible just horrible. I didn't get to watch it, but I had a friend keep me updated with the score and it wasn't pretty at all.  I wore my burnt orange up here in Canada and everything on Saturday.  We will never hear the end of this from Tech fans.  I still love my Longhorns though so Hook 'Em Horns!
