NP Rank:
"Beat Dat Nation!" ATL-Style, Falcons vs Saints on MNF 12.27.10
The Atlanta Falcons have the best record in the NFC at 12-2. They are one-win away from clinching the number 1 seed in the conference and home-field advantage all the way to the Super Bowl.
The Falcons are still not being recognized as the best team in the NFC. Many of the experts have picked Philadelphia. Some even say the Bears, and then there are those you will say the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints (10-4) are 2-games behind the Falcons in the NFC South and lost to Atlanta at home earlier this season 27-24. The Falcons defeated the Baltimore Ravens November 11th on Thursday Night NFL 26-21 for their first prime time game of the season.
The Saints vs Falcons on ESPN will be the last Monday Night Football telecast of the season.
It was November 21, 1983 on ABC Monday Night Football when the New York Jets visited the Super Dome to play the Saints when the rest of America was introduced to the "Who Dat" chant. The Jets won the game 31-28. The "Who Dat" chant was started earlier that season for the Saints.
Now they have the chance once again on the prime time stage to defeat the defending Super Bowl Champs and send a message to the rest of the NFC that its not going to be easy to win in our house. It may take your best effort and that might not be good enough.
The Baltimore Raven fans started the "Beat Dat Nation!" rally chant. Baltimore will play the Saints only once every four years unless they meet in the Super Bowl.
The Falcons and the Saints will face each other twice a year and a possible third time if the 2 teams meet in the playoffs. For Atlanta the "Beat Dat Nation!" chant will have more impact because they play in the same conference and division.
"Beat Dat Nation!, Beat Dat Nation!, Beat Dat Nation!" should be the rally chant this week for the City of Atlanta and the Falcon Fans. It would be a great way to end the Monday Night Football season and introduce a counter rally chant that started 27years earlier on a Monday Night Football telecast.
Mayor Reed should proclaim 12-27-10 as "Beat Dat Nation Monday" for the City of Atlanta and all its citizens.
Dunkadelic Sports Marketing in Baltimore created the "Beat Dat Nation!" rally chant to spark the Baltimore Ravens for a victory over the New Orleans Saints.
